Accreditation

Finding an accredited school is important because accreditation requires an elevated level of professionalism. From staffing to classroom arrangement and instruction, the requirements of and accrediting body are higher than the state's licensing department.

Oak Grove Academy is accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission, Inc. The mission of the GAC is to establish standards promoting instruction of high quality for children in Georgia and to uphold these standards, and to strengthen the quality of education in each school. The GAC has established specific criteria regarding all aspects of school functioning. From student-teacher ratios to minimum staffing eligibility, these standards elevate the level of instruction, quality of care and classroom instruction and arrangement.

As a direct result of our accreditation, Oak Grove Academy teachers receive 20 hours of accredited classroom specific training while the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning requires only 10 hours. 100% of Oak Grove teachers are certified in CPR and First Aid while the state requires schools to only certify 50%. Similarly, there are no requirements regarding assessments and parent/teacher conferences under the Department of Early Care and Learning while GAC requires twice a year assessments and conferences for every child. The GAC requires all classrooms to have a physical arrangement where developmentally appropriate materials are available to children in a center based approach. Perhaps the easiest to notice impact of accreditation with the GAC comes in our student teacher ratios. By offering smaller class sizes and low ratios, we are able to provide a calm, loving and supportive educational opportunity at every age.
