Senior ToddlersThe children in our Senior Toddler classroom are generally aged from 22 to 30 months and are an active group indeed! Our staff focuses on the unique social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of these children. The teacher/student ratio in the Senior Toddler classroom is 1 teacher to 7 students with a maximum class size of 14. The physical environment of this classroom is designed to facilitate motor skill development as well as social skills through center structured play. These older toddlers enjoy a limited amount of independent exploration under the loving guidance of our experienced teachers. Participation in large group, small group and one on one instruction by the children is planned throughout the structured daily schedule. Our curriculum in the Senior Toddler classroom promotes fine motor skills through art and music as well as movement activities. Language development is promoted through story time, music, and puppet play. Self-help skills such as feeding themselves, potty training, and basic dressing skills are practiced daily. Our "High Reach" academic program introduces skills and concepts such as color and shape recognition, number and alphabet introduction, vocabulary expansion and spatial relations. It is specifically designed to utilize hands on experiences to promote learning through music, art, games, storytelling and cognitive activities. Our highly trained and qualified teachers create lesson plans to incorporate key experiences of early childhood academic, social and emotional development. We are enthusiastic about the learning opportunities in our Senior Toddler room and invite you and your child to come grow with us. We look forward to a loving, learning relationship with you and your child. |
