Tiny Toddlers

Our Tiny Toddlers, generally 7 to 13 months, are a busy group indeed! Learning to perfect the art of crawling, walking, climbing, and sliding helps build the gross motor skills that are essential as the children progress from infancy to toddlerhood. Our early movers and shakers enjoy a safe level of freedom in the Tiny Toddler classroom. A large enclosed crawling and exploration area protected by padded walls offers the children the opportunity to develop their gross motor skills, explore soft manipulatives and interact with peers in a safe and inviting environment. This stage of motor skill development is a critical time where the children benefit from our assistance to help build the foundation of their self-confidence.

Our expertly trained and educated staff, using developmentally appropriate equipment, offer children the opportunity to grow and develop at their own pace in an atmosphere of comfort, security and love. All children are given experiences to increase their gross and fine motor skills through exploration of various manipulative materials and developmentally appropriate toys and equipment. This is accomplished through a low teacher/student ratio of 1 to 5, with no more than 10 children in the classroom.

Our Tiny Toddler classroom has been specially designed to promote the key learning experiences of early childhood development. An interactive, thematic and conceptual based curriculum includes group as well as individual learning opportunities. The lesson plans are designed to engage young toddler minds as well as develop motor skills. We introduce concepts such as colors, shapes, and community helpers. In the Tiny Toddler classroom, we expose the children to baby sign language to promote developmentally appropriate communication, months earlier than formal spoken language develops. The ability to communicate needs and desires reduces anxiety and allows these young children the opportunity to feel in control of their environment. The children are transitioned to table food while in this classroom and are invited to eat familiar foods from the Oak Grove menu established under the guidance of a dietitian. This class participates in regular art projects, weekly special instruction from our Music teacher and exposure to our Spanish curriculum.

We welcome your child to our Tiny Toddler Program and are delighted to share with you the excitement and joys of being a Tiny Toddler! We consider it a privilege to be part of this special period of growth and development and look forward to a wonderful relationship with you and your child.
